I'm seeing a lot of 1950's inspired, structured make up - defined liner with crisp matte red lips. The smokey eye is a perennial favourite, generally with a nude or light lip, but it isn't unheard of this season to pair a heay eye with an equally heavy lip in defiance of the eyes or lip rule of thumb.

There are natural looks too with pretty, ladylike cheeks, luminous and fresh, teamed with a 50's eye, smudged and toned down.

Lashes, particularly classical strip lashes, are a big hit this season, heading for a nod to the early 60's.

Parisienne Pots of Pretty

Limited-edition Bourjois Rendez-Vous a Paris Single Eyeshadow Pots, $19 and Blush Pots tilt their dainty little lids to the brand's French heritage (Bourjois was initially used by French actresses in the mid-nineteenth century). Delightfully decorated with vintage images of Paris, true make up junkies will want all of them (in my opinion it's what's on the outside in this case).

Boudoir and Burlesque Inspired Beauty Packaging

Burlesque is huuuge right now, and this includes beauty products. From precise matte 50's style make up to burlesque inspired packaging, girls are going silly over all things boudoir.

The Balm, sold at Sephora, has always has the aesthetic, but it is so hot right now...  especially Sexy Mama Blush, complete with vintage illustrated pin up girl and quilted bedhead. How I love padded upholstery.

Mac have release a stunning collection with such lush packaging...
